NEW JERSEY SAR Color Guard
Members of the Color Guard of the New Jersey Society Sons of the American Revolution perform at events all over the state. We wear the buff-and-blue uniforms of the 3rd New Jersey Regiment, known as the “Jersey Greys,” formed January 10, 1776, and led by Col. Elias Dayton. New Jersey has a rich Revolutionary War history, reflected in its title Crossroads of the Revolution. Nine major battles and Washington’s Crossing itself took place in our state, and the NJSSAR Color Guard honors them all with commemorative ceremonies, in addition to performing at a variety of related events, including classroom visits. For more information, go to NJSSAR.org. We also can be found on Facebook as the New Jersey SAR Color Guard. The NJSSAR Color Guard throughout each year appears at historic dedications, commemorations, patriot grave markings, history days, Eagle Scout Courts of Honor and numerous SAR and DAR events. The Color Guard also annually performs honors at the following:Washington’s CrossingBattle of TrentonBattle of Assunpink CreekBattle of PrincetonBattle of Bound BrookBattle of The Short HillsBattle of Red BankBattle of MonmouthBattle of Chestnut NeckBattles of Springfield and Connecticut FarmsBattle of Brooklyn, NY
