Annual George Washington Tomb Vigil, Mt. Vernon

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are the National Color Guard of the Sons of the American Revolution, a lineage society dedicated to the preservation of our American Colonial era history and the ideals of the founding of this great nation. We are here today standing vigil at the tomb of General George Washington, the first President of our United States, and the father of our nation. This is an Honor Guard and while you may speak to and have your pictures taken with the Tomb Guards, they will not respond to your questions or move from their post. Feel free to come and speak to us about our organization and have pictures taken with our guards when they are off shift.

CTSSAR Patriot Grave Marking Ceremony

On Sunday September 1, 2024, The Connecticut Society of the Sons of the American Revolution will hold a SAR grave marking ceremony for five soldiers who were killed during the Battle of Groton Heights and the defense of Fort Griswold on September 6, 1781. The ceremony will be held at 4:00 PM at the Starr Burying Ground, 88 Lestertown Road, Groton, Connecticut 06340. The ceremony is open to the public. LEARN MORE

Annual Celebration of the Battle of Moore's Creek

Please join us as we celebrate the Anniversary Celebration of the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge, the 1st Patriot victory during the War for Independence. Activities will include musket and cannon demonstrations throughout both days, as well as demonstrations of colonial trades such as blacksmithing, candle dipping, spinning, cooking, gardening, powder horn making, colonial toys and games, live music, and much more.
